How much does your service cost?
Between
8.00am-6.00pm (Monday - Friday) £20 per hour. No VAT is charged. We deduct a 10% discount
for registered OAP. Saturdays 8.00am-6.00pm £30 per hour.
Does this include
materials?
No - materials are extra. Most customers use us as a labour service, but we
are happy to supply materials for you if needed. We bill 10% for cost of parts we supply to reflect the fact that we are using our expertise to
select and find the right materials.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
Valleys Handyman do not charge call-out around
the Merthyr Tydfil area. From Hirwaun in the east to Ebbw Vale in the west;
Pontsticill in the north to Abercynon in the south. We only charge for hours
worked and materials we bought and not travelling time. The map below serves as
a guide. We are more than happy to work outside this area in South
Wales, for example Swansea, Cardiff, Caerphilly, Brecon, Bridgend, Newport
however we will require a 50p/mile single extra distance call-out fee to cover our fuel.
Do your handymen
come with all the right tools?
Yes! All our handymen carry a range of tools to tackle a huge number of different jobs. They also
carry a wide selection of small parts (screws, nails, wall plugs, plumbing
connections and so forth).
Do you do free
estimates?
Generally, we can give you a good idea over the telephone of how long a job
is likely to take. You can then book someone in, and when they arrive they
will confirm or revise the estimate based on what they find at the job. If
it is clearly going to take a lot longer than expected, and you decide to go
ahead then our handymen will do the job there and then. For larger jobs,
like fitting a new bathroom, we would usually make a separate visit first to
give you an estimate.
How quickly can you
respond?
Your Valleys Handyman is only a phone
call away for all of your odd job DIY tasks. We normally can begin work within 24hrs excluding Sundays and
Bank Holidays.
Do you work
weekends?
Yes, we work Saturdays for which we charge a 50% premium over
our usual rates.
How do you know
that the handymen you employ are reliable?
We are a family run firm and are dedicated to the customer's satisfaction.
We offer a cast iron guarantee to back this up.
Will I have to wait
on all day for your handymen to show up?
No - we give specific one hour slots in which we aim to arrive. We are
nearly always bang on time, but sometimes (particularly towards the end of
the day) we might be a little late. But we will always call you well in
advance to let you know our revised estimated arrival time.
How big a job can
you take on?
The jobs we do generally rage from 30 minutes to a day. However we do much
larger jobs lasting several days, (e.g. taking care of a long \'snagging\'
list for a customer which has just had builders in).

We currently operate mainly in South Wales however we can cover other areas,
just call to find out!
How can I pay?
We accept cash or cheque with bankers card.
Do you do office
work?
Yes, certainly. Many companies use us to take care of their everyday
maintenance requirements. There is no formal account-opening procedure, just
call us. We will send someone round and then bill you afterwards. If you
require a regular visit (e.g. once a week) then we can sort that up too.
